2020 Botshabelo Volunteer Experience Opens

Updated: Mar 21, 2020

If you love to travel, volunteer and make a difference, than the Botshabelo Volunteer Experience is for you! In 2015 CSW partnered with the Botshabelo Community Development Trust in Magaliesburg, South Africa, to launch a community development project.

ABOUT BOTSHABELO

Botshabelo was founded in 1990 as an orphanage and poverty relief community for those suffering from HIV/AIDS and poverty. Literally translated "botshabelo" means, a place to run to. And today, the community is home to hundreds of people, most of which are children and youth. Of course, we also can't forget the plethora of plants, animals and reptiles that also call the community home.

ABOUT THE BOTSHABELO VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE

Over the past five years CSW has partnered with Botshabelo to help them reach their goal of becoming a model sustainable African village. With education, sustainability, collaboration and community at our shared core, together we've tackled a variety of projects including solar powered water access, mushroom cultivation, exercise therapy, bio gas installation, computer skills training, and so much more.

All of this work was made possible by the incredible humans who volunteered their time to work hard, play hard and make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Check out the 2019 Highlight Reel.

This two-part adventure offers a unique and authentic taste of South Africa's village and wildlife. A country rich in history, culture and tradition, ground yourself in our collective human history, struggles, and triumphs. You will be moved, and you will most certainly leave a lasting impression on the lives of those you meet. On that note, we welcome another group of volunteers to the 2020 Botshabelo Volunteer Experience and cannot wait to see what another year has in store.

2020 EXPERIENCE DETAILS

This year our volunteers will experience each of our projects with a major focus on mushroom cultivation. In addition, our volunteers will also help complete a community audit that will measure the diverse impact our projects have had on the community. Top that off with a whole lot of laughter, love and dancing and you've got yourself a trip of a lifetime!
